A prepared environment is a planned environment with the child as the primary focus. I remember a caption I saw in a magazine a few years ago. It read “Kids are people too!” When creating an event or a programme that would involve children, it is imperative that their interests are taken into consideration.
The term ‘prepared environment’ was introduced by Dr Maria Montessori. She believed that the environment could be designed in such a way that it will aid the child’s learning and his interests would be met. The prepared environment has many advantages that spur the child to accomplish excellent social and emotional development.
