Dealing with Postpartum Depression (PPD)

Pregnancy and child birth are exciting times in the life of a woman and her family. These exciting times can also be stressful and cause anxiety for mothers, especially first time mums. Following the birth of a child, most women undergo mood changes which can be anything from crying spells to irritability and anxiety. This often goes away as a woman adjusts to her new baby and situation.

In a few women, however, the moodiness may persist and become problematic and affect how they interact with their newborn. During such times, it becomes imperative to consult a physician to ascertain whether postpartum depression (PPD) may be the issue.
