In the Montessori environment children are not just receivers of knowledge and instructions, but also actors who direct their own learning and behaviour, and develop leadership traits from a very young age. Children are given the opportunity to be their own educators and to take part in the process of shaping their morals, values and norms by certain fundamental Montessori principles.
The role of the adults in this environment is to manage the smooth operation and incorporation of these principles to the daily classroom plans. This is made possible in an atmosphere where children are away from pressure, feel safe and are free to make their own choice of activity, interact with one another, move, love and be loved and grow.
